The Preposterous Prosperity Gospel

“When they took those jeezobucks and ran to the bank, to the bank, to the bank, to the bank, where every night we can hear them thank their buddy up above, for sending down his love, while you all smell the glove.” --from the magnificent song “Jesus Thinks You’re A Jerk,” by Frank Zappa.

Oral Roberts’ death on December 15th followed on the 21st by the celebration of Frank Zappa’s birthday raised the aforementioned song in my head. I thought back to a time of air conditioned dog houses, Swaggart’s lies and Tammy Faye's cries, and Pat Robertson’s 700 silk ties. Oral loved his money too—in January 1987 he took to his tower and extorted his followers with exhortations of “unless I have eight million dollars by March, God will take me up and—boo hoo hoo—I’m just not ready to go be with the Lord.”

Today it’s the Graham family’s Samaritan Purse wingnutting Sarah Palin around in their private jet, and the Focus on the Family hypocrites lamenting the economy destroyed by the despicable politicians they passionately endorsed, then begging for smaller five and ten dollar donations to pay themselve six figures salaries. See some of these Christian executives' compensations, as reported here, compiled from December 2006 till January 2008. Andrew Wommack, Woodrow Kroll, Lowell Davy, William Franklin Graham, Jack Van Imp, Cynthia Swindoll, William Skelton, David Jeremiah, Richard Roberts and two dozen more reported healthy six figure salaries.

Megachurch prosperity gospel preacher Joel Osteen flies around in style promising blessings of riches here and now. (His wife Victoria paid the FAA a fine of $3000 for verbally abusing a flight attendant, but that's a story for google.) In the video clips I’ve seen Joel is inarticulate almost to the point of incoherence, but it’s working for him, so y’all be blessed and buy another book so you’ll be blessed some more.

Then on Christmas this Reverend C Thomas Anderson rears up in the news singing his carol that Jesus couldn’t have been poor—he’d been given gold at birth, Roman soldiers gambled for his expensive garments and even Mary and Joseph traveled in style. “Mary and Joseph took a cadillac to get to Bethlehem because the finest transportation of their day was the donkey,” said Anderson. “Poor people ate their donkey. Only the wealthy used it as transportation.”

It’s so ridiculous that it wouldn’t merit address it if it weren’t so prevalent. So gather round everybody, it’s time for some Jesus 101. First of all, nowhere in the Bible does it say that Mary and Joseph were conveyed to Bethlehem on the back of an ass; that is a sort of urban legend that arose in the early centuries AD. Jesus did make his kingly entrance into Jerusalem upon an ass, but contrary to being a luxurious mode of travel, it was in fulfillment of prophecy, and as an aspect of his ultimate display of humility before his exaltation.

Jesus repeatedly denounced the evils of worldly wealth and its corrupting influence over the soul. Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and man." (Mammon is an Aramaic word meaning ‘wealth.’)

Another fine teaching is Luke 18:22-24. A certain ruler asked Jesus how he could inherit eternal life, and Jesus answered him saying: “Sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.’ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, how hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!”

I detect hypocrisy here. Was it Jesus, lining his robe with gold while serving God? I don’t think so. Could it be those whose love of money is the root of their evil, and who shamelessly satisfy that lust by preaching the word of God, the word which they pervert by soliciting cash from their faithful listeners and followers who think they’re giving charitably, in the names of Jesus and God, but whose donations are used to fly their recipients in private jets and pay fat six figure salaries, salaries that in the real world are even higher if tax free with religious exemptions; salaries that are more than most of the people make whose donations pay them.

Jesus also gave these people fair warning in Matthew 7:21, saying: “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name have done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Don't these jerks understand that there are no jerks in heaven?

The PrayerCast Freakshow

"Oh the horror!" --Whammer

Have you seen these strange men and women publicly mocking God? PrayerCast

After witnessing that, I was bereft of speech. Those are some bowling ball sized cojones.

If you haven’t seen it, last week Republican Senators Jim DeMint and Sam Brownback, and kook in congress Michelle Bachmann, led by the reverend ‘pastor’ Lou Engel, held hands, chanted in tongues and solemnly prayed to God to intervene and inspire the Senate to strike down health care reform. These are the members of the political party that WTBN Christian radio endorses every election cycle? Say it ain't so. They look like sacrilegious cuckoos to me.

These are the politicians who, when we were bitch slapped by our friends the Saudis on 9/11, retaliated by invading Afghanistan, where the terrorists purportedly exercised on monkey bars and practiced shooting pop guns; and by invading Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein, the dictator that your fathers raised up in the first place.

I read the Bible—that book you thump like a drum when you should be wielding it like a sword--the double edged sword that is the word of God. And here's some truth from that book, if you can withstand having your weapon wielded against you.

Isaiah, chapter 1, verses 15-17: ‘And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.’

The Cool Flat Earth

“We live in an age where truth is no longer held in high regard.” Hank Hanegraaff, during his segment on WTBN Christian Radio, Monday, December 14, 2009.

Nowhere is that more evident than on WTBN.

The way God guides my mind to answer my prayers for wisdom and understanding of scripture amazes me continually. Last night before bed I was pondering how to address WTBN’s latest crusade AGAINST truth—this time global warming, and WTBN’s public stance that it is not a real phenomenon, and that scientists are lying. Emboldened by the recent release of emails hacked from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, the voices of WTBN are screaming that this proves global warming is a hoax fabricated by fudged science. I fell asleep with WTBN playing softly in the background and when I awoke this morning that statement from Mr. Hanegraaff were the very first words I heard. I couldn’t have phrased it more succinctly.

And thus does WTBN bear witness against itself.

Here are some excerpts of Cal Thomas’ commentaries that were aired on WTBN December 3rd and December 8th. “The global warming fiction is unraveling…the president of the Czech Republic says global warming is a politician’s myth…in Denmark, where the climate conference is being held this week, a local newspaper reports the country is ‘rife with CO2 fraud and the entire global warming myth is a comprehensive tax scam’…look at the people pushing global warming; they are mostly control freaks who want more power and money for themselves and less freedom for you…this is the left’s religion. While denying God, the left is committed to saving the planet. Why? If there is no God, we might just as well eat, drink, pollute and be merry for tomorrow we die. For what are we trying to save the planet?”

Those notions are muddled, weird and frankly, nonsense. If I love Christ, how does it reason that I deny God? Nor am I a control freak interested in power and money and depriving others’ freedoms. But I do believe in saving the planet. Exactly how am I wrong in respecting God’s creation? Dominion over the earth is a not license to destroy.

The Associated Press analyzed the 1073 hacked emails totaling approximately one million words, and said that ‘they show that scientists harbored private doubts, however slight and fleeting, even as they told the world they were certain about climate change. However, the exchanges don’t undercut the vast body of evidence showing the world is warming because of man-made greenhouse gas emissions. The scientists were keenly aware of how their work would be viewed and used, and, just like politicians, went to great pains to shape their message. Sometimes, they sounded more like schoolyard taunts than scientific tenets.’

Maybe a little parable will wipe the paste from your eyes and melt the wax in your ears. There was a landowner who lived in a mansion and had a couple of smaller homes he let out to tenants. One of the tenants trimmed the gardens, touched up the paint and maintained beautiful grounds. The other chopped the flowers, watered the weeds, sledgehammered the walls and burned the place down. When the landowner goes on vacation, which tenant will be trusted to house sit the mansion?

For many centuries the church held to the false belief that the earth was flat and the center of the universe. This adherence to an untruth was as it is written in Matthew 15:9 ‘In vain do they worship me, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men.’ The famous Polish astronomer Copernicus advanced the theory that the earth revolved around the sun, but did not publish his work until late in life, in part because he feared the church would brand him a heretic, and after destroying his reputation would sentence him to imprisonment or death.

So goes it today, with global warming scientific fact and WTBN as they represent the belligerent, self-righteous right wing deniers of that truth. There is a massive, expanding hole in the ozone layer. FACT. Once snow-capped mountains are barren. FACT. The polar ice caps are melting. FACT. Arctic and Antarctic wildlife is dying as their natural habitats and feeding grounds are vanishing beneath their feet. FACT. Average temperatures and water levels around the world are rising rapidly. FACT. WTBN’s stand on the issue? WRONG. On this matter WTBN clings to FALSEHOODS and LIES.

Let us take a little stroll down scripture lane and drink in some truth. The teachers and preachers on WTBN are in consistent agreement that these are the latter days as described by biblical prophecy, notably but not limited to the wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places foretold by Christ in The Olivet Discourse, which is the twenty fourth chapter of Matthew.

Now let us move along to a description of the end of the world. “But the day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burnt up.” 2 Peter 3:10.

And finally, on into the Revelation of our Lord and Savior, where the seven angels are pouring out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth in these latter days. “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues; and repented not to give him glory.” Revelation 16: 9-10.

Back in the sixteenth century it turned out that Copernicus, in the far corner, representing science, was right, and the church, in the near corner, representing the false doctrine of hardheaded men, was wrong. So who are we to believe today: WTBN, or scientific truth as it corroborates the VERY WORD OF GOD?

I will say WTBN is right about one thing: we live in an age where truth is no longer held in high regard.

The Disciples of Ronald Wilson Reagan

Biblical Evidence That Republicans Are Not The Party Of Christ Part Two

It is fascinating how and how quickly the human mind works. A while back I was listening to WTBN Christian radio in the middle of the night. It was the top of the hour, three AM, and WTBN was airing a fifteen second clip of their right wing social agenda. This time it was a sound byte from Mike Pence, the republican congressman from Indiana.

I'd only recently heard of Pence, and what had stuck in my mind was that he'd cited Ronald Reagan as his hero. I've always thought Reagan was one of the more evil characters in recent US history. He started by engineering the October surprise to sabotage Jimmy Carter in the 1980 election. Paying the Iranian government in weapons to keep the 53 Americans hostage until after the November 4, 1980 election was downright villainous.

Then there's his war record. Invading Grenada and bombing the Falkland Islands were a real flexing of US muscle, much like a bully smacking a baby in its stroller. Arming both sides of the Iran-Iraq war with weaponry was particularly nefarious; but perhaps most diabolical of all was taking proceeds of the sale of arms to Iran to fund the contras in Nicaragua and El Salvador. Reagan's philosophy of that conflict was to prevent communism from infesting the United States by spreading north through Central America and into Texas. Having spent a fair amount of time in that region I can say from experience that that notion is preposterous; the people of Central America are largely impoverished, and more interested in day to day survival than political theory. They are also predominantly Christian in the civilian regions where the contras were planting land mines. Roughly 135,000 people died in those conflicts, and it is fair to say that innocent Christian blood was spilled in the slaughter.

So as I lay there Mike Pence's voice triggered thoughts of Ronald Reagan, which hearkened me to Spike, who I had been friends with for a couple years in high school. He was a very weird, violent guy whose family was involved with the bizarre 'spiritual' cult Eckankar. For whatever reason, one of the things I most remember about Spike was his bragging about torturing and killing a neighbor's cat with explosives when he was about ten. (What exactly is it about the admirers and mercenaries of Reagan thinking it's perfectly okay to blow up the living creatures that God made?)

So, triggered by Mike Pence's voice, here is what my mind processed in a matter of mere moments: Pence idolizes Reagan, Spike idolized Reagan, Spike slaughtered cats with little sticks of dynamite. These are not good people. And my thoughts proved to be prescient, for following Pence's fifteen second rightwing diatribe, the very next words on WTBN were Steve Kreloff's graphic description of the Roman torture of Christ preceding the crucifixion.

So I got to thinking about some of the voices of WTBN's social agenda and how they regard Reagan.

Mike Pence cites Ronald Reagan as his hero.

A snoop around his website reveals that Cal 'Obama Is A Dictator' Thomas highly reveres Ronald Reagan.

Michael 'I Am Not A Christian And Have NO Business Being On WTBN' Medved calls Reagan 'deservedly beloved of Republicans everywhere.'

Albert Mohler wrote an article entitled 'Leadership Lessons From President Ronald W. Reagan' in which he speaks of Reagan's greatness.

Janet Parshall said: "Ronald Reagan will always be very much a man who represents the American hero to me."

Focus on the Family's James Dobson from a speech on youtube: "We now have a president who does not seem to understand anything that Ronald Reagan stood for. Each of those areas that I talked about, and others, are being undermined and contradicted today. And I grieve about that. As much as I celebrate the progress that was made in the 1980's, I look at what's taking place today and I don't believe there is a single policy decision that Barack Obama has made that I agree with."

Richard Land: On a list of his favorite books, Peter Robinson's HOW RONALD REAGAN CHANGED MY LIFE, comes in at number four. About the book Land said: "Robinson probably does the best job at getting at the essence of that unique, sunny, complex person that was Ronald Reagan. I think reading it made me a better man, too."

Hugh Hewitt cites the same book on Reagan, and said: "Reagan's greatness is anchored in his and his country's goodness."

For more simply go to townhall.com, a website that WTBN advocates and promotes constantly, type Ronald Reagan into the search box there, and you will see the effusive love of Ronnie oozing from every page.

Reagan himself professed to be a Christian. In speaking during the president's funeral service, his son Michael Reagan said: "When he closed his eyes, that's when I realized the gift that he gave to me--the gift that he was going to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Having said all that, let us turn to the words of our Lord and Savior. In Matthew 12:22-26 it is written: 'Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?'

(Two sidenotes: The Pharisees bear great resemblence to today's Republicans, but that's another chapter, which is forthcoming; and scholars agree that the number 666 as described in Revelation is based on an ancient name game called gematria, which correlates people's names to numbers--Ronald(6) Wilson(6) Reagan(6).)

Now, if I hand someone a rifle knowing who they're going to kill, am I complicit in that murder? The courts would find me guilty. Landmines are a particularly barbaric mechanism of warfare. How then does a 'Christian' authorize and fund their use to maim and murder innocent civilians, many of whom we know were Christian? Can you kill Christians in the name of Christ? When Jesus sent his disciples forth to heal and preach and cast out devils, was it in the name of Satan? Why then does WTBN give voice to so many disciples of such a man as Ronald Wilson Reagan?

Socialism in the Bible

Biblical Evidence That Republicans Are Not The Party Of Christ Part One

I first heard of Janet Parshall during the 2008 presidential election. She is a republican, and was very vocal on WTBN in her support of McCain/Palin, and went so far as to say that not voting for them was disobedient to the Bible. I did a little snooping, and when I learned of her great esteem for George Bush, the oil guzzling, warmongering, economy wrecking, lying, antichrist whore of the rich; and that she thinks the rabble rousing, nazi consorting liar Michele Malkkkin is blessed by God with clear insight, I pretty much lost all respect for her views, and rather than letting her rile me up, I simply move up the dial whenever she comes on. (Does anyone at WTBN find it odd that some Christians are tuning OUT specific blocks of 'Christian' programming? I do.)

However, on occasion I am otherwise occupied when she takes to the airwaves, and need a minute or two to reach my radio. So it was yesterday, and I endured a couple minutes of her continued shrill railing against health care reform.

Are you sure you're Christian, Janet? Have you actually read the gospels? You do know that compassion is one of the traits that enters your heart when you invite Christ in, and your stance is not very compassionate at all. Would you choose the emergency room for your primary care physician? You think it's perfectly acceptable for millions of less fortunate than yourself.

You scream at Washington to listen to America, that we do not want health care reform. You're either misinformed--the last poll I saw said that SIXTY FIVE percent of Americans want a government provided public option--or propagating lies, which is a very BIG NO NO according to the Bible. If you like, I can point you to specific scriptures where God elucidates His contempt for liars.

Everything is a-ok in Christian America when the CEOs of the 23 major health insurers pay themselves a whopping FIFTEEN billion dollars over five years? That is roughly FIFTY dollars from every man, woman and child in America.

Do the 123 people who die every day from lack of health care think the system is working just fine? Are they speaking out against health care reform as they slip into the grave?

Janet then went on to scream that government provided health care would turn us into a--GASP--socialist nation! Oh the horror! You mean, everyone would have food, shelter and medical attention as needed? Not in WTBN's America, and certainly not in the name of Christ!

So I got to thinking, and opened my Bible to the Acts of the Apostles, where it is written that after Christ ascended: "...many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need." Acts 2: 43-45.

That sounds like a socialist collective to me. So who am I to believe--Janet Parshall when she says 'socialism' is evil, or the apostles who actually walked with Christ? Sorry Janet, but I think I'll roll the dice with Simon Peter, Andrew, James son of Zebedee, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon the Canaanite and Matthias on this one.

Of Bishops and Lofty Titles

Bishop Tobin's recent publicly denying Congressman Kennedy from taking the sacrament of the eucharist in any catholic church resonated poignantly with me. Drifting With Jesus was inspired in part by one of the more profound experiences of my life. When I lived in New Orleans I was homeless for a short time, and was passing one night in a bar on Decatur Street when I met Arthur. He bought me a couple of beers and we had been chatting for a while when he invited me to join him in visiting some friends. Having nothing better to do in New Orleans at four thirty in the morning, I tagged along. We walked to a convenience store where Arthur bought three or four bags of sandwiches, snacks, beer and cigarettes, then we wandered down to the bank of the Mississippi, where he shared his bounty with some homeless people there.

Around daybreak we wandered back toward the French Quarter and into Jackson Square. It was a Sunday morning, and upon seeing the Saint Louis Cathedral I immediately told Arthur that I needed to go in and pray. He followed me, and we came upon a service in progress. In a city of close to half a million, the congregation consisted of about fifteen people. Shortly before the benediction, one of the priests administered communion. I got in line while Arthur remained in the pew. When my turn came up, the priest detected that I was not catholic by my ignorance of the partaker's role in the rite--namely saying 'Amen' when the priest says 'body of Christ.' He asked me directly if I was catholic, and I answered directly that I was not. He pulled the wafer back, made the sign of the cross, and told me that he could not give me the body and blood. I protested that I was a brother in Christ, and he said that it mattered not, and hastened me along. Writing this fifteen years later still makes me say: 'Wow.'

The Catholic Encyclopedia states that the pope, cardinals and bishops are to be formally addressed respectively: His Holiness, His Eminence, and His Excellency. In Matthew 19:16-17, it is written: 'And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.' The same also appears in Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

In Luke 14:11 it is written: 'For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.'

Knowing these biblical truths, how will it go for men who insist on being called holy, eminent and excellent? And who did well in God's eyes that surreal night in my life: Arthur, who fed the hungry, or the priest who withheld Christ from a Christian?

Publican Again

The dingaling knuckleheads over at wedontcarewhatGodthinks.com have trotted out their latest scripture du jour designed to be taken out of context and hatefully applied to President Obama. This time it’s Psalm 109:8, "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

Odd, just six verses earlier in the same psalm one can imagine President Obama crying out to God against his decriers. Psalm 108:2: “For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.”

If splitting and splicing Scripture is the game, two can play.

The Bible clearly and specifically describes Republicans. Really. In great and gory detail, actually.

In the days of Christ the publicans performed the functions of tax collection and supplying the Roman legions. Because they took money and used it to provide for the enemy, they were generally detested. To publican the people was bad enough; but to re-publican, to do it again, meant that you really enjoyed taking all the money and cared not that you were despised of men.

Now let us turn to Luke 18:2-10 and employ the yada yada magic of ellipses and you will see it clearly written: “There…publican.” Following an elliptical collision we apply a monosyllabic division, so that it reads: “The republican.” From there we can combine it with any number of scriptures and reveal Biblical truth.

Dovetail Luke 18:2-10 with Psalm 73:8-9 and it reads: “The republican are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression; they speak loftily. They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.”

Luke 18:2-10 together with Psalm 107:27 and 1 Samuel 25:22. "The republican reeled and staggered like drunken men; he that pisseth against the wall.”

We really to need rise up and mash Luke 18:2-10 into Revelation 20:2 and pray that it proves prophetic: “He seized the republican, the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.”

Blood Money

Biblical Proof That True Christians Support Health Care Reform Part Four

Jesus famously taught: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” The 23 CEO’s of Health Insurance America made 559.8 million dollars in 2005 alone, projected to almost 15 billion over five years. Would a true Christian oppose the reforms that would save these souls from the earthly wealth that locks them out of the kingdom of God, and condemns them? Wouldn’t Jesus spread a few crumbs and rags to the hungry and the homeless? Make no mistake, this is blood money, every drop excruciatingly extracted from an economy already starved for oxygen.

So I read tonight that Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut has stepped up to join Olympia Snowe as the face of the opposition to a public option, promising to filibuster any bill containing such language in the legislature. How is the continued inaction of a filibuster enacting the legislation that 68 percent of Connecticut wants? And how is that going to work anyway? Are you and Olympia going to slowly count to 15 billion on the floor of the Senate? You say we’re moving too quickly, but the procrastination causes another 123 people to die every day. Their blood drips from your hands and cries out from the earth....

I am a Democrat from Connecticut, and Lieberman is an absolute EMBARRASSMENT to our great little state. Jesus warned us against wolves who would come dressed in sheep skin, and Lieberman is a Republican hypocrite who smuggled himself into the Senate in the guise of a Democrat. I was deceived into voting for him in 2000, but not again in 06, when he falsely promised on the campaign trail: “what I’m saying to the people of Connecticut, I can do more for you and your families to get something done to make health care affordable, to get universal health insurance.” You shamelessly lied to your constituents, Joe, and are a traitor to the party that gave you the little power you now feebly wield against it.

Judas Iscariot was the most famous traitor in history. His price to kiss Christ was thirty pieces of silver, which was used to buy the potter’s field wherein he fell headlong, and burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. That place is called Aceldama, which means ‘the field of blood.’ Acts 1:18-19.

What is your cut of the blood money, Judas Lieberman? Or do you prefer Joe Iscariot? And how are you going to spend your pieces of silver? Is your Aceldama going to be a nice headstone in the Hamptons?

The L Word

The Conservative Bible Project deems the Bible too liberal, and has undertaken to revise it.

Among the passages they take exception with is Luke 23:34: ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.’ Some of the most famous final words ever, uttered by the dying flesh of Christ, and CBP wants to expurgate them.

Clearly these fools have not actually read the Bible, or they would dearly heed its final verses, wherein it is written: ‘For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.’ Revelation 22:18-19.

Since Jesus also said, ‘I and my Father are one,’ denying God his own words should go well with the CBP and its adherents….

Before The CBP rips the passage from its pages, here is what the Bible says about liberals. Isaiah 32:5-6: 'The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful. For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.'

Thereby is the liberal justified, and what is vile--the opposite of liberal--defined and decried.

Here are some definitions of liberal taken from the dictionary: ‘Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry. Tending to give freely; generous.'

Why is that bad?

Jesus Christ is liberal.

To quote your ‘Christian’ leader, antichrist Bush, “If you’re not with us, you’re against us.” The enemy of Christ is Satan, and it is the devil’s work that you do, saying that good is bad, right is wrong, and demonizing liberal as a four letter word. You can skewer scripture to your own warped social and political ends, but you can’t change truth.

There are a couple of four letter L words that do pertain here.

Anyone who alters the spirit of the word of God is a LIAR.

Another one is LOVE, which is the heart of Christ and his ministry, whether preaching the greatest commandment--above all love God, and thy neighbor as thyself--or demonstrating the greatest love, that a man lay down his life for his friends. In all its variations—from lovely to lovingkindness—the word appears 558 times in the King James Bible. Since love is a very liberal trait, I wonder how many of those references will remain after the Consortium for Biblical Perversion is done with its mangle of a revision.

Godliness in the Government

“The devil lurks behind the cross.” --The Curate in Don Quixote (et al)

I saw an anti-Obama ad from Pennsylvania using the Communist Party hammer and sickle. Lately I’ve been thinking a good emblem for the Republican Party would be horns and cloven hooves, because the way they hijacked the title of the party of Christian and Family values is one of the devil’s great deceits.

I listen to Steve Kreloff of Verse By Verse Radio quite a bit, and mostly enjoy his expositions on scripture, but occasionally I hear things I find curious. He recently preached a series entitled Living Godly in an Ungodly Society that inspired some thoughts in me.

Kreloff said: “Today’s evangelical church is really blowing their testimony when it comes to this area. The image of the evangelical church today is that of political protestors, arrogant right wingers, who blast and insult and criticize every politician who opposes our views, when we ought to be perceived as model citizens, we are perceived as intolerant, and rude, and we want oust every politician and every organization who disagrees to us, and that’s foreign to the new testament.”

The Democrats have their Spitzer, Edwards and Clinton to be sure, but the Republicans have a roll call that reads like a Who’s Who of pedophiles, perverts and profiteering panderers. From Swaggart’s sobbing to Haggard’s bobbing, now it’s Mark Sanford pathetically alluding to King David when busted hiking an Appalachian trail in Argentina. Then there’s Senator Ensign, brother in Christ, who got biblically familiar with his campaign manager’s Douglas Hampton's wife Cynthia, thereby damaging two marriages with one downstroke. Ensign's parents gave Cynthia a 96,000 dollar gift, then is suspected of violating government law in trying to secure Douglas a lobbying job. He’s also opposed to health care reform, and was one of thirty Republicans who voted against the Franken amendment to the 2010 Defense Appropriations bill that would withhold defense contracts from companies like KBR “if they restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court,” Franken said.

Was it all that communing with Christ that told you adultery was fine for yourself and gang rape for government contractors, Senator Ensign?

Kreloff said: “I know a few Christians today who are not opposed to our government, and to the present administration in Washington. I know a few, I’m sure there a few, there are some. I know a few Christians who would say yes, we endorse the government, yes we endorse the present administration because we like their values. Most Christians recognize that the values coming out of Washington DC are opposed to biblical values.”

Surely this position is based in the Christian opposition to abortion and gay marriage. Abortion is abomination, but there are a million premature deaths every year. God surely does something with these souls, and maybe the advanced medical techniques are evolution’s way of adjusting the premature deaths man eliminated with vaccines. Let he who is without sin etch the first law in stone and judge another. You scream that every life possible must come into the world, then hate the laws that feed them. As to gay marriage, if you give heed words God does not, you look the fool.

Kreloff said: “God is interested in saving people, not making the world a better place to live. What if we could change every law in America, and Christianize our nation. What if we could make every law based on the bible. Things would go a lot smoother, and life would be a little bit better for all of us. But then people would die who didn’t know Christ and they’d go to hell. And all you’ve had is more comfortle existence on earth and then they’d die and go to hell anyway. That’s not what God is interested in. God’s not out to give creature comforts in your life on earth. What He is out to do is to save men and women. God’s heart beats for the salvation of the world not external comformity to moral and biblical codes in America.

True, but it is easier to lead people to the Lord when they are living well than in poverty, and the Republican ideal of creating a few billionaires at the expense of millions of people is nowhere in the philosophy of Christ. It does in fact mislead people in what it means to be Christian, as it is written in Matthew 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kindgom of heaven against men; for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffering them that are entering to go in.”

Kreloff said: “Our government is anti Christian and getting moreso.”

It is also, as Christ predicted, a pack of wolves in sheep’s skin.

The Ankle Bone's Connected By The...Compassion Muscle

Biblical Proof That Real Christians Support Health Care Reform Part Three

Instead of using the Bible as the devil often wields it, to whap and thump and bonk people on the head, let’s put it to the purpose wherefore God created it: to be read.

After Christ’s ascension, when the apostles and disciples were in Jerusalem gathering to be dispersed, it is written: ‘And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.’ Acts 2: 44-45.

And a few verses later: ‘Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms…Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.’ Acts 3:1-8.

On September 23, 2009, Kimberly Young of Oxford, Ohio died of swine flu. She was 22. Young had been ill for about two weeks, but “didn’t seek medical treatment because she didn’t have health insurance and was worried about the cost,” according to Brent Mowery, her friend and former roommate.

Since most Christians believe that Christ is the only way to heaven, and reckon delivering souls as adding to their own reward therein, for the sake of discussion here, let us suppose that Miss Young died before coming to the glory of Christ (for if not her, there have been and will be many other such who pass away at a tender age); wouldn’t a truly pro life Christian save her in this present physical world, that she might also be saved, leaping and praising, into God’s kingdom hereafter?

Why then is it, that if Peter and John were to open a hospital today, so many who call themselves Christian--as exemplified and espoused by the personalities on my local Christian radio station, WTBN--would resort to wicked politicking to bar the doors until they could figure out how to charge admission? What if God is using your stand on health care reform as a litmus test for your heart—would you pass, or fail?

Of Lepers and Lost Sheep

Biblical Proof That Christians Should Support Health Care Reform Part Two

Let’s start this one with two quotes from the Bible, one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament.

'Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live.' Ezekiel 33:11

'The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.' 2 Peter 3:9

Now let’s read the story of Jesus healing the ten lepers, which is in Luke 17:11-19.

'And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.'

Applied to a contemporary setting, that would be like nine Americans and one illegal Mexican receiving treatment at the hospital, with only the Mexican having the courtesy to say ‘Gracias.’

But that is not my point. My train of logic docks at the station with the parable of the man who had one hundred sheep, and when one became lost, he left the ninety nine in the wilderness to go and search for the lost one, and when he found it he hoisted it upon his shoulders and called his friends together to rejoice.

‘I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.’ Luke 15:7

So it is that true Christians support health care for everyone, that those of faith may live to evangelize another day, while even if only one in a hundred non-believers is brought to glory, you will have done that which pleases God and the angels.

Or, continue your bizarre support of insurance company avarice controlling life and death, and run the risk of fulfilling another scripture: ‘I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews (or Christians), and are not, but are a synagogue (or church) of Satan.’ Revelation 2:9

More Back and Forth with Right Wing Rodi

Again, this picks up from here.

Why do you seek to justify and explain yourself to me? The Father’s opinion is the only one that matters.

The Gift of Discernment? You? That is rich. I just sprayed tea and pee everywhere I was laughing so hard. This coming from the man who read Genesis 19 and found the story of 'two men who married women that were beautiful but turned out to be immoral and it spiraled from there.' The same guy who, when I quoted the ‘inerrant’ scripture that says: “This was the sin of Sodom….” told me that the scripture was not to be taken literally, but as an allegory of nothing.

I’ve heard that expression before--The Gift of Discernment--to describe Christian ‘gifts.’ I give it no credence. It’s a platitude. Ask one hundred people if they’ve got the gift and eighty will say ‘Yes.’ The other twenty will ask: “What’s that?” and when you explain it will say: “Oh yeah, of course I’ve got discernment.” A while back, I heard a guy on Christian radio openly bragging about how he had the gift of discernment. He then used his very next breath to extol the virtues of that Christian hero Ronald Reagan. Yeah, right. But if you say so…um…okay…I’ll play along…Rodi has the gift of discernment. Are you able to discern the Devil’s voice when he uses it to call himself Christian? He does it all the time.

So something rather odd happened, pertinent to this conversation. Monday night I was looking for something different to watch and happened across the documentary Food Inc. I watched it last night. I think you should watch it and tell me what you think. It was a fascinating look at our food supply, and how capitalism has influenced and taken over its production. It truly is an unholy, ungodly evil. Monsanto suing a farmer because the wind cross pollinated his fields from grain grown with their patented seeds was particularly nefarious. Truly satanic arrogance is required to bring such a lawsuit to bear. And is it Godly that Bush appointed a major beef lobbyist to head the FDA, regulations were rolled back, inspections reduced, and—whaddya know? Here comes e-coli and salmonella. I’m sure that woman whose little boy died wasn’t thinking this was a government that had her interests at heart. She was probably a good Republican though, and knew she was taking one for the team. It goes on and on.

I’m reluctant to quote scripture for you, since you’ve demonstrated a clear lack of knowledge and understanding of the Bible, but here goes: John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

The prince of this world is the Devil, and the capitalist business principles that he’s brought to bear in the production of our food supply he’s also applied to the industries of energy/oil, defense/war, finance/banking, prisons, health care, and anything else you can think of. Do you see that with your powers of discernment, or has your mind been blinded by the god of this age?

There was one very sensible and articulate farmer in the film. Let's call him, Joe The Organic Farmer. At about the 50 minute mark he said something that I found very pithy and lucid. He said: “I’m always struck by how successful we have been at hitting the bullseye of the wrong target. We have learned, for example, in cattle we’ve learned how to plant, fertilize and harvest corn using global positioning satellite technology, and nobody sits back and asks: ‘but should we be feeding cows corn?’ We’ve become a culture of technicians. We’re all into the ‘how’ of it, and nobody is stepping back and saying: ‘but why?’ A culture that views a pig as a pile of protoplasmic inanimate structure, to be manipulated by whatever creative design the human can foist on that critter, will probably view individuals within its community, and other cultures within the community of nations, with the same type of disdain, and disrespect, and controlling type mentality.” Well said, Joe The Organic Farmer!

Do you discern a spot on nutshell of Republican philosophy in that quote? I do.

So when Republicans recently criticized Democrats for adding to the deficit (a deficit largely created by the Reagan and Bush administrations—Clinton left a budget surplus), then it is announced that Obama’s first budget narrowed the deficit by 13 percent--see here--then the ONE AND ONLY thing the Republicans want to do if they take control of congress is to add 700 billion to the deficit by extending the Bush tax cuts to the wealthy--or to use their parlance, 'cram it down our throats--do you discern hypocrisy? (Stupid policy, by the way. If the tax cuts during a strong economy contributed to this destroyed one, how will those same tax cuts affect it now? They will be devastating, like kicking a cripple.) Following that all they'll do is shut down government for two years until 2012 and the hope of recovering the presidency so they can go on another four year binge of rampant cultural and economic destruction.

So when you drive to the post office to drop your overpriced health care payment gouge in the mail, do you pass by the town hall, pat yourself on the back, and say: “Thanks to me, those statues of Lenin and Marx will not be appearing here for another month.”? You do know that a good capitalist would tell you that your bank account is moving in the wrong direction, and that if you could get the same product for significantly less, that would be smart business. But, you’ve got that gift of discernment, so I’m sure you know best.

Here are two hospitals. The Jesus hospital, o’er which hangs the sign: He Heals Them All. And the capitalist pig hospital, o’er which hangs the sign: Cash Only, No Exceptions. (If you’re sick—or have an illness resulting from capitalist deregulation of the food industry—and have no money, go find a quiet place to live out your misery and die.)

EXT – DAY A sidewalk. (Beavis to Butthead): You said ‘discernment’—he, he—he, he….)

So, watch Food Inc--and Sicko, for that matter, which reveals the capitalist pig destruction of the health care system. The asthmatic woman in tears near the end is particularly touching. The deregulated air polluters that exacerbate and contribute to her illness probably have their hands somewhere in the industry that charges her 120 dollars apiece for her inhalers—the identical inhalers that she’s buying for FIVE cents each in one of those evil—gasp—CUBAN pharmacies.

Get back to me when you’ve seen Food Inc—your take on it will reveal much about your heart.

P.S. When I say Conservative Christian do you DISCERN an oxymoron? I do, for unless God is LIBERAL with His mercies, we are all dead men walking.

Lazarus and The Living Water

Biblical Proof Christians SHOULD Support Health Care Reform Part One

WTBN’s static voices state their stance on health care very clearly—they are adamantly opposed to it, as good Christians should be. This confounds me. Even if you weren’t Christian and were simply decent you would support reform.

Janet Parshall is particularly vociferous on the subject, and screams to heaven in shouting it down. The other day she mentioned the good Samaritan, insomuch as the Christian thing to do is to allow the less fortunate to rely on charity. It is a profound parable. The good Samaritan was a foreigner who aided a Jew, so if he would do that for someone of another nation, and we want to be like him, how much more then should we take care of our own?

That got me thinking of the story of the Samaritan woman, who Jesus asked to drink from her well. ‘If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.’ John 4:10.

Which in turn made me think about Lazarus, the beggar covered in boils at the rich man’s gate, who begged for crumbs while the dogs licked his sores. When Lazarus died he was carried by angels into Abraham’s bosom, while the rich man lifted his eyes into torments. And seeing Lazarus he cried: ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ Luke 16:24.

Who has the living water there?

The rich man then asked Abraham to send someone to his house, to warn his family. ‘Abraham saith unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.’ Luke 16:31.

Which brings us to the other Lazarus—Lazarus of Bethany—who Christ raised from the dead after he had been buried in a cave for four days. He was the brother of Mary who had anointed him with oil and wiped his feet with her hair. Jesus loved them, and after glorifying God, ‘he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin.’ John 11: 43-44.

Abraham was right.

Christ and the Black Heart

Remembering Katrina over the weekend one of my strongest recollections was Kanye West saying “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” I lived in New Orleans for a year, and worked on Bourbon Street in the spring of 95. I love that city, Katrina broke my heart too. And whether Bush truly doesn't care we can't know, but based upon his actions black people have every right to feel betrayed and to perceive him that way.

Having also resided in New Haven, Connecticut, New York City, and Austin, Texas, I've lived in mostly multicultural places where I encountered people from around the world, so when I came to central Florida a few years ago I was surprised at how freely the N word flies around here. Here are a couple of examples. One of my co-workers is a very well mannered, upstanding young man who considers himself Christian, knows the Bible, attends church regularly and tithes his income. He also doesn’t believe that God created men equally, and that he’s superior to niggers. I have a neighbor who professes to be Christian. He also proclaims himself to be better than women, Mexicans and niggers. And two roaches on the counter usually mean many more nearby.

And now is the racism ratcheting up. Antichrist pastors stoke the fires and fan the flames in the engines of hate with public prayers for Obama’s death—two notables being Steven Anderson of Tempe, AZ and Wiley Drake of Buena Park, CA—and people calling themselves Christian bring nazi propaganda to rallies and town hall meetings. As significant as the cross is to Christ the swastika is to Satan. The insignia is a repugnant symbol of murderous racist hate, and no one who loves Jesus, king of the Jews, would be comfortable even around one, much less wielding it. The swastika is anathema to everyone who truly loves the cross--people who wave swastikas BURNED Jews, and still BURN crosses--and it is written that you cannot serve two masters.

Yet ‘Christian’ radio host Kevin McCullough explained to me that displaying it was not contradictory to Christianity. He said: “The sign is clearly not an endorsement of Hitler but rather a poke at the President who asked his citizens to report on any neighbors who disagree with him. Which happened to be a tactic taken from Hitler’s Gestapo. Any slight student of history would know and understand this…only a moron cannot see the difference…”

Many hate President Obama because he is black.

…I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me…’ Song of Solomon 1:6

That is the only difference in the flesh of men, and that color is irrelevant anyway when we read: ‘For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.’ 2 Chronicles 16:9.

Moses knit his heart in marriage to Zipporah, an Ethiopian woman. And after being baptized by John in Jordan, Jesus went into the wilderness to fast for forty days and be tempted of the devil, whom he conquered. The terrain of that region is desert, and knowing that he did not enter therein armed with sun block, eyeshades and a parasol, it’s safe to say that when he returned to civilization it was with a burnish in his skin, and not the lily white hallmark airbrush as depicted on the shelves of your local shop.

Jesus taught us the greatest commandment: above all love God, and thy neighbor as thyself; and that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, and that what proceeds from the mouth is what defiles a man.

The way is wide but the gate narrow.

‘Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.’ Matthew 7:21-23.

If your heart holds hatred for neighbors you don’t even know, how can it possibly be right with God? If you do not love the brother who you have seen, how can you love God whom you have not seen? And don’t you fear the answer when you approach He who was darkly complexioned when on earth, with your supplication for mercy issuing from one side of your mouth, and hatespeak from the other?

Response to Rodi

This is the continuation of a conversation, which started on this thread.

Wow. Methinks your mind has been scrubbed bizarre by the Foxnews Republican propaganda brainwashing machine. You make weird assumptions about the Disciples of Christ going forth and denying amenities to hypothetical Greeks and Romans, then a sentence later carry on with your thoughts as though it were historical fact. Where does it say anywhere that they withheld anything from the Greeks and the Romans? How do you come up with that? They were revealing the greatest treasure on earth to them. I’m pretty sure there were many shared meals and much hospitality involved that turned both ways. They weren’t creating some form of government to supersede God.

As for socialism leading to a Marxist regime, where did I suggest anything remotely like that? Where did you come up with that crap? I haven’t read a word of Marx. Your brain is programmed so that the mere mention of the word socialism and your mind triggers Lenin and Marxism and Glenn Beck prancing around in a nazi uniform with a riding crop. Nobody would be kissing the toes of statues and thanking them for their bread. The fear mongering of your media buddies has sunk in on you. If we were to base a socialized system of government on the disciples of Christ, how could it possibly do anything BUT place God above all?

I’m talking about looking after one another, implementing the best of other nations, where people are happier, healthier, safer and wealthier than here. I had Dutch friends who told me that In Holland, if you want to go to university it’s free, and the government provides a small stipend for you to live on while you study. How is that evil? What’s evil is giving your children a debt note of 20, 50 or 100k along with their diploma. In societies where money moves about more freely MORE people succeed financially (which I mention since I know how dear that is to you). In other nations EVERYONE receives health care. If we truly aspired to be a Christian nation, then we would model our health care system after Christ. “…and great multitudes followed after him, and he healed them all.” Not just those carrying Blue Cross…HE HEALED THEM ALL.

As to your seeking to glorify Christ, it makes me think of an arsonist fireman who sets the blaze then rushes to extinguish it to gain glory among men. You step into a voting booth and inflict the Republican miseries of unemployment, foreclosure and homelessness, war and oil spill upon your countrymen then put on a great show of giving the resulting less fortunate neighbors a few of your charitable crumbs.

I came across a recent clip of Michele Malkin last night. It mystifies me that any Christian admires her. She conveys an attitude of shameless arrogance, and her rhetoric struck me as disrespectful to God, sniping the way she does at people who think environmental regulation is necessary and right.

Reagan funded those nefarious wars to stop ‘communism’ from advancing north through Central America. (Now that notion is STUPID). 135,000 people died in those conflicts. The population of Central America is hugely Christian, and innocent peasants were blown up by Reagan's landmines. You can’t kill Christians in the name of Christ. Yet you despise Obama. He acts more Christian than any of the liars, hypocrites, thieves, perverts and shills you vote for, who do NO good for the public, and who are tilting us into an oligarchy. They don’t care about you, they’ll look down and laugh as they tread on your head like cobblestone.

So I’ll amend my parable to read: A wealthy landowner rented out two houses—one to a tree hugging, environmentalist earth muffin, and the other to an industrial capitalist pig. He also suggested they find a way to make the properties pay their rent. The earth muffin trimmed the gardens and lawn, kept up the paint and repairs, and maintained immaculate premises. She also tilled the land and started up a profitable roadside stand. The pig rooted up the yard searching for gold, sold off the furnishings then burned the house to the ground. Which of the two will the landowner entrust to house sit his mansion and invite to vacation in the beach cottage? Since that accurately describes two types of people currently dwelling upon the earth, choose between those TWO. Or twist away with a third in some idolatrous fantasy.

Mercy is compassion. Do you know the parable of Lazarus? It’s Luke 16:19-31. Here’s Lazarus 2010. While the rich man dined one evening on Chilean Sea Bass stuffed with dates and pine nuts, artichoke fritters, lox on rye toast points and asparagus tips in hollandaise sauce, the poor man shooed away the dogs licking his boils and dragged himself to the local hospital. “We’ve got the medicine to cure you right here,” the doctor said, holding up a vial between his finger and thumb. “I just need your insurance information.”

“I haven’t got any,” Lazarus answered.

“Then I’ll need a thousand bucks,” the doctor said.

“I haven’t got that either,” Lazarus replied.

“Then you can't have any. Here’s a couple of band aids to cover your sores and there’s the door. NEXT!”

And Lazarus died and Luke 16: 22-31 finishes the story. And next is, YOU ARE THE PHARISEES.

The Kindness of God

For the last few weeks on WTBN, Steve Kreloff of Verse by Verse Radio has been discoursing on King David. A couple of days ago he did a particularly excellent half hour on the kindness of God. Some excerpts are paraphrased here.

“When Jesus walked on this planet much of his ministry was directed to who? People who were poor, people who were lame, people who were blind, people who had illnesses, people who were demon possessed, and what did he do for them? He healed them. He healed them. Compassion. He was never too busy to be compassionate, he actually touched lepers, he expressed tenderness, he always had time for the outcasts, Jesus was so compassionate that many of his healings were done on the Sabbath. And the Pharisees, those absolute hypocrites, kept criticizing him for healing on the Sabbath and Jesus refused to change…but you know why he healed on the Sabbath, because when he came in contact with human misery, he didn’t want another day to go by in which that person would remain in that miserable state. And so healed them regardless of the fact that once the Pharisees saw him they said we’ve got to kill this guy…..a lot of people came to Jesus, and he must have been very tired and yet he did not turn any away, and why, because he was compassionate. This is the heart of God.”

Shouldn’t WTBN practice what it preaches? Why does WTBN oppose health care reform, as so LOUDLY vocalized by Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved, Bill Bunkley, Cal Thomas, Jay Sekulow and Janet Parshall, Baldwin, McCullough and the rest of the Obama hating gang? The fact is that the health issue is divided into two camps, and WTBN ‘Christian’ radio is on the side of the street/aisle with the screeching ignoramuses and pharisaical hypocrites who are bringing weapons and nazi propaganda to the town hall meetings. Hmm…is this where Christians stand?

The status quo on health care in America turns its back on the needy and protects the countless billions the insurance companies extract from the economy in premiums and administrative costs without actually having anything to do with treating sick human beings. And don’t forget the additional hundreds of billions they raided from the taxpayer coffers last fall in bailouts.

I am 45 and have no health insurance. About a month ago I had a cyst on my shoulder blade that had swollen to the size of a walnut and needed treatment. Not having a couple hundred dollars and several hours to wait in an emergency room, my recourse was to seek treatment at the free health clinic in downtown St Petersburg. I was treated by a retired doctor in his mid eighties who was volunteering his time, who performed the surgical procedure on the spot, and who did a fantastic job, God bless his heart, and thank you for leading me to him. Two weeks ago I awoke one Sunday to find my right eye swollen shut. Again, not having spare cash and hours to sit in an emergency room I used my good eye and the internet to diagnose myself. Fortunately, my diagnosis was correct, though the healing process was probably slower than it would have been had I been treated by doctor, and I did miss two days of work. And scroll a little further down to read about how my congressman, Bill Young, who funds his health care insurance with my tax dollars and plans to vote that I get none, is more concerned about bears than me.

The ‘Christian’ politicians (Republican hypocrites) you vote for wrote the laws that destroyed this economy. The ‘Christian’ politicians you vote for oppose a compassionate health care system that would be consistent with the miracles and ministry of Jesus. The ‘pro-life Christian’ politicians you voted in won’t treat sick Americans, but will spend our tax dollars building bombs and then lying to the world to justify starting wars wherein they drop them and slaughter innocent mommies and their babies in foreign countries.

And you call US a Christian nation?

P.S. I hardly think the angels in heaven are wearing the I’D RATHER BE WATERBOARDING tee shirts that townhall.com sells and reading the neo-nazi Michelle Malkin’s lies that townhall.com promotes. Just a hunch.

George Bush antichrist

The internet was recently invaded by an Obama is the antichrist speculation video which wended a convoluted rotini of logic in stating that when the passage in Luke 10:18, that describes Satan falling like lightning from on high, is read aloud in Hebrew, Baraq and Bamah are two of the words used, which was a coded warning from Jesus about the Antichrist, and Obama is it!

Much of the speculation about the Antichrist is based on the beast in Revelation, but while the words beast, dragon, false prophet, devil and Satan all appear in the narrative of Revelation, antichrist is not used. The word ‘antichrist’ appears only five times in the Bible, and all in the first two epistles of John, and defines itself in one scripture: ‘Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.’ 1 John 2:22

The word’s appearance four verses before is just as revealing. ‘Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.’ 1 John 2:18

So as some pastors and prophecy fanatics warn us from pulpits and in pop culture that these are the last days and the antichrist is coming, so is the first part of the scripture fulfilled; and that being so, thus also is the second, that many antichrists are now among us.

He who says he is of Christ but does abominably is a liar, and denies God, and is antichrist. How a man is abomination to God is described in lucid detail in Proverbs 6:16, where it is written: ‘These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.’

Therein do we find our former president described uncannily. That smug, prideful look of George Bush is as unforgettable as the lies, the bloody hands and the dreams of a dark heart—everything you would imagine an antichrist to be. He stole an election, with help from his father, and deceived many, in that so many Christians voted for him—exactly as some ‘Christians’ say will happen when the Antichrist comes.

Let’s pretend we’re in the heavens as God and Satan take a bird’s eye look down. There is Israel, God's heart, and Jerusalem, God’s jewel city upon the earth. And how would Satan rage against God? By striking as near to that heart as he could. And look there, George Bush antichrist, and his father, invoking the prophecies of Gog and Magog while making war in Babylon, near Israel’s border.

Along with his sidekick the false prophet Cheney--who fear mongered about the falling sky while warnings were ignored and attacks launched on their watch--they roared through eight years of history and left waves of social, cultural and economic destruction still repercussing into the future and a deep wake of devastation behind, epitomized by their bungled handlings of 9/11 and Katrina. And just as with those disasters, it will take the fulness of time to number the dead and measure the damage.

And now are their followers, more antichrists, taking to the streets and the airwaves, kicking and screaming, as it is written in Revelation 12:12: “Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

There are your antichrists.

As to President Obama and scripture, why take a twisted path to an inferred allusion when a direct one is right there? There are three uses of the unusual expression ‘leading captivity captive,’ in the Bible. One appears in the New Testament, in reference to Jesus Christ, and one in the Old Testament, about an ancient Jewish hero named Barak. (a third use, Psalm 68:18, foreshadows the scripture in Ephesians about Christ.)

‘But unto everyone of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.’ Ephesians 4:7-8.

‘…awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam. Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.’ Judges 5:12-13.

Am I saying George Bush is the Antichrist? One of many. Am I comparing President Obama to Christ? Nope. He says that he is in Christ, pray that it is true. He does have ‘dominion over the nobles and the mighty;’ may God help him.

Congressman Bill Young, his wife and the bears

I saw Bob Barker’s recent post on CNN. I like Bob, and don’t know anyone who doesn’t, and so I read it over.

It was about an experience with caged bears Bob’s friend congressman Bill Young, his wife Beverly, and their family had on a reservation in Cherokee, North Carolina. Bill Young happens to be the congressman for my very bizarrely drawn district, which is a poster child for gerrymandering. (For the curious, google maps of districts 10 and 11 in Florida.)

From CNN, 8-9-09: ‘Beverly saw a sign that said, “Come Feed the Bears,” so they stopped at a roadside zoo. She described what she saw as “sickening.” There were six to seven bears in concrete cubicles. Their fur was hanging off, they were begging for food, and an employee was tossing one bear cub around by the scruff of his neck. Beverly said she had an uncomfortable confrontation with the person who was mishandling the cub and was asked to leave. I remember her saying, “The prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are treated better than these bears, who have done nothing.”’

To which I respond with a quote from Matthew 10:29-31. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Sparrows, lions, tigers, bears...what about the millions of people who would love the health care the prisoners at Guantanamo receive? Where are your priorities, Beverly and Bill?

The Dobson Gang Google Game

I’ve been playing a little game, and thought I’d share it with you. It’s interesting and entertaining. I type Dobson and another name into Google and see what comes up. Go see him suck face and makeup with Beck! Watch him kiss the half baked Alaskan’s fur trimmed arse! Watch him make it rain Jeezo bucks. Here's a few to get you started.

Surprisingly, not much comes up, really. All the references to Jesus are by other people who are generally attacking the ‘good’ doctor Dobson. Not once do I see the name Jesus Christ in a sentence from Dobson’s mouth. Odd, he does call himself Christian.

One of the wickedest and worst presidents in our history. Dobson endorsed him in 2000, and then after watching him screw things up for four years, endorsed him for re-election in 2004. Ask the American ‘family,’ how his legacy is working out for them. Hundreds of thousands of people died needlessly because of the decisions of this man who holds the ‘sanctity of life’ as sacred. Do you honestly suppose Jesus would have voted for him?

“I cannot, and will not vote for Sen. John McCain, as a matter of conscience.” James Dobson, February 2, 2008.

Dr. James Dobson, a prominent evangelical leader who once said he would not vote for John McCain “under any circumstances,” announced in the last hour that he planned to vote for McCain. August 29, 2008 Time Magazine.

These two hypocrites deserve each other. McCain carried on several affairs behind the back of his first wife, and eventually left her after she had been disfigured in an automobile accident. Are these the kind of family values we want in the White House? Dobson does.

And here’s an interesting article about the Council for National Policy and their ultra secret meeting in Minneapolis to discuss McCain’s potential running mates before the Palin announcement; a meeting that Dobson was rumored to have attended. Why so secretive? Jesus taught that you don’t light a candle to hide it under the bed, but to put it on a candlestick to light the whole room. Hmm…an ultra secret cabal. What are these people hiding?

Tom Delay was the Texas congressman and House Majority Speaker who was indicted on September 28, 2005 on conspiracy and money laundering charges resulting from a campaign finance probe. The government doesn’t come down unless they have the goods—federal indictments carry a 95 percent conviction rate. James Dobson has called Tom DeLay "one of America's leading advocates of family values" and "a consistent voice of reason and clarity in America's moral debates." And several months before the indictment was handed down, Dobson said he believed that we shouldn’t investigate Delay, and that “we should get off his back.”

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives is one of the great hypocrites of our time. Gingrich's first marriage ended after he discussed the details of the divorce with his wife while she was recovering from cancer surgery in 1980. He was cheating on her, and ended up marrying the woman he cheated with in 1981. He then cheated on her in a six year long affair that was going on WHILE he was spearheading the Clinton impeachment probe following the Lewinski scandal. He eventually married that woman, his third wife, in 2000.

Dobson and Focus on the Family supported a Gingrich run for the presidency—there’s some real family values we could use in the White House—and told U.S. News & World Report that he thought Gingrich is the "brightest guy out there" and "the most articulate politician on the scene today." Really? Gingrich is a loud mouth monster.

‘Pastor Ted’ is the former leader of the National Association of Evangelicals, and another of the great hypocrites of our time. When allegations—which turned out to be the TRUTH—surfaced that Ted Haggard, while in the pulpit railing against homosexuals, was engaging in drug-fueled sex romps with a gay prostitute, Dobson defended him.

Before Ted’s confession, Dobson said: “It is unconscionable that the legitimate news media would report a rumor like this based on nothing but one man’s accusation. Ted Haggard is a friend of mine and it appears that someone is trying to damage his reputation as a way of influencing the outcome of Tuesday’s election--especially the vote on Colorado’s marriage protection amendment—which Ted strongly supports. He has shown a great deal of grace under these unfortunate circumstances, quickly turning this matter over to his church for an independent investigation. This is a testament to the character I have seen him exhibit over and over again through the years.”

A few days later Haggard released a statement that was read in his church. Here is an excerpt: “The fact is I am guilty of sexual immorality, and I take responsibility for the entire problem. I am a deceiver and a liar. There is a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I’ve been warring against it all of my adult life….”

On an interesting sidenote, In January 2006, the National Association of Evangelicals decided that it would not take a stance on global warming, and released a letter stating that "global warming is not a consensus issue." Twenty evangelical leaders, such as James Dobson and Charles Colson, signed this letter. Why is Dobson so continually taking exception with the TRUTH?

For mail fraud, conspiracy and tax evasion charges stemming from his influence-peddling scandal in Washington, Jack Abramoff was sentenced to 4 years in federal prison last week, on September 4, 2008. Ralph Reed is the former executive director of the Christian Coalition, is named in the Abramoff scandal, and seems to have been intimately involved.

In February 2002, when Abramoff learned that the Jena Choctaws, a tribal competitor to one of his casino clients, had contracted the lobbying services of DC super-lawyer and current Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, Ralph Reed (political consultant, and former Christian Coalition Executive Director) asked Dobson to attack Barbour on his radio show. In a February 6, 2002, e-mail Abramoff tells Reed, "Let me know when Dobson hits him [Barbour]. I want to savor it." That same day, in an e-mail titled "Ralph and Dobson," Abramoff tells Scanlon that Reed "got to Dobson who is going to...get on the radio!" On February 19 Reed got a direct request from Abramoff. "Can we get Dobson on the air?" Reed responded that day in an e-mail, "yes. We're negotiating that now."

The next day Abramoff wrote to Scanlon: Reed "wants a budget for radio in the state. I'm inclined to say yes, so we can get this Dobson ad up. He asked for $150K. We'll play it in WH [the White House] and Interior." Later that day Abramoff was jubilant. Reed "may have finally scored for us!" he wrote to Scanlon. "Dobson goes up on the radio next week." On February 26 Abramoff asked Reed, "where are we with Falwell, Robertson, Dobson, etc.? we need to see some action in D.C. That's what I sold them for $100K."

Look at the diverse collection of liars and hypocrites. And that’s not all. You can google Dobson + pick a political or ‘religious’ scumbag on the national scene and almost be certain to dredge up some manner of filth. It seems that Dobson seeks glory among men and wealth on earth, two things which God holds in no regard. He never speaks of the wonder, the glory and the majesty of Jesus Christ. And just as some radical Muslims pervert Islam to justify their own ends, so are there many who call themselves ‘Christian’ but are not; and who have hijacked the faith to expedite their own selfish aims.

If it waddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck, and is swimming in the pond with Mephisto, Beelzebub and Baal, ladies and gentlemen, you’ve got yourself a….

Republican Fantasy Camp

Republican Fantasy Camp

A Short Story

By Robert Charest

Today I awoke a couple hours earlier than normal. I was off from work, with an entirely carefree day before me, and was feeling chipper and clear headed, so I steeped a cup of chamomile tea and took it out into the yard, where I settled into the newspaper beneath the misty, mellow, morning sun.

It wasn’t a particularly noteworthy news day, so my attention gradually drifted to the advertisements. I noticed that Pansy’s Breakfast Pantry was serving ‘all you can eat pancakes off the griddle’ for five dollars until ten. Mmm, I love Pansy’s pancakes, I thought, and I am a bit hungry. Next I noticed that Manny’s Barber Shop was having a five dollar special on haircuts all day. Hmm, mine is getting long, I thought, and it’s such a simple cut that no one’s ever screwed it up. Then on page twelve I saw that Delvin’s Carpet Cleaning Company was running a special: twenty five dollars per room. Hmm, my carpets are getting a bit overgrown, I thought, and could use a good coiffure.

I gave it a short ponder, and decided to spend the day doing some errands to tidy up my life. I phoned Delvin’s and inquired as to their schedule. They said they could be at my place at four thirty. I replied that would be perfect, that I might be out, and that if I was they were welcome to let themselves in and get started using the spare key inside the ceramic frog beside the steps. I then moved all the furniture out the way, and set out to start my day with breakfast at Pansy’s. The pancakes were so fluffy and delicious, and the butter and raspberry syrup so scrumptious, that I ate like I had just straggled in from wandering lost in the desert, and managed to pack down nine. I left a nice tip for the waitress, who had been so attentive in reloading my plate and refilling my water glass, then went to the counter to settle the check.

One of the short order cooks was also manning the register, and he came over to me and said: “So, how was everything?”

“Outstanding,” I replied. “I couldn’t be more satisfied.”

“That’s what we like to hear,” he answered. “Ten bucks and we’re square.”

“Ten bucks?” I repeated with incredulity. “The ad in the paper says ‘all you can eat pancakes off the griddle’ for five bucks.”

“Oh, that,” the cook responded. “You had the flapjacks off the flatiron; they’re four for five dollars, and a dollar apiece after that. You had nine, which comes to ten bucks.”

I was flustered. “What, pray tell, is the difference between a flapjack and a pancake?”

“Something in the ingredients,” he explained. “Adrian usually makes the pancakes, and he knows the difference, but he called out sick today. If you want to come and ask him, he’ll be here Friday.”

“That’s about the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard,” I stated. “What if I refuse to pay the difference? What if I leave five bucks and walk out the door?”

The cook glanced at the clock and answered: “You’ll be able to explain it to the police on their way here: they come in at the same time every day, precisely two minutes from now.”

I muttered under my breath and begrudgingly withdrew a ten spot from my billfold. I flipped it onto the counter in a manner that clearly expressed my indignation, and said: “I’m not happy about it, and probably won’t be back for a long time, if ever.”

“Just be glad you didn’t get the hotcakes from Tommy’s skillet; he’d have charged you fifteen bucks.”

“Whatever,” I mumbled in disgust, then turned and left in a huff. Walking through the foyer I passed the two policemen who were entering the restaurant, and said to them: “I recommend the flapcakes, they’re fabulous.”

They gave me weird looks, and I continued on my way before any response on their part could start a verbal exchange.

I walked around the corner to Manny’s Barber Shop. There was a sign in the window confirming that men’s haircuts were five dollars all day. I put in my name, took a seat in the waiting area, and a few minutes later was face to face with one of Manny’s finest. I explained that what I wanted was for him to give me a simple, short, no fuss, low maintenance cut by setting the clippers to number three and running them around my whole head, then to push the sideburns up, and trim the eyebrows and stray hairs protruding from the nostrils and ears. In five quick minutes he had it done to perfection. I was very pleased with both the speed and the result, and planned to tip him another five on top of the five dollar cost.

When we reached the counter he looked at me and said: “That’ll be ten dollars.”

“Ten dollars?” I repeated. “The ad in the paper and the sign in your window both say that men’s haircuts are five dollars all day today.”

“And that they are, but that’s not what I gave you,” he answered. “You received a scalp adjustment.”

“A scalp adjustment? What, pray tell, is the difference between a haircut and a scalp adjustment?”

“Scissors cut hair, clippers adjust scalps.”

“So let me get this straight,” I said. “If I had asked you to take five times as long to do the same task only using scissors, you’d be charging me half of what you are?”

“I don’t make the rules,” he said. “If you want to ask the boss, Manny will be here on Friday.”

I was growing extremely agitated. “You know what—“I started to say, then stopped myself. Since I had intended to pay him ten dollars for whatever he did to my head anyways, I decided to simply hand over that amount rather than ruining my mood by working myself into a pissed off dither. I took a deep breath, then calmly proffered a ten dollar bill, saying: “Thank you very much, and have a great day.”

As I turned to leave, he gave me a slanted glance, gently cleared his throat, and said: “No tip?”

“It’s my understanding the gratuity is always included with scalp adjustments,” I replied. “If you want to check that with Manny, he’ll be here Friday.”

From there I went to pay my utilities, where I was told there would be a ‘convenience fee’ should I use my credit card, and to the post office, where I was met with an inexplicable handling charge for a package I had ordered that had arrived, and from there to a ticket agency, where I encountered a list of service and parking fees for a concert that I had wanted to attend, but decided against after the actual price of the ticket was tallied.

I arrived home about five thoroughly frazzled by all the doublespeak. Delvin’s crew was already there, and just finishing up the four rooms of carpet I had hired them to clean. They had done terrific work without breaking a thing, and I was most pleased. They packed up their truck, helped me return the furniture to its place, then the foreman presented me with a bill for two hundred dollars.

“Two hundred dollars!” I exclaimed. “The ad in the paper says twenty five dollars a room, and by my count, you did four.”

“That is true,” the foreman acknowledged. “But the carpet cleaner broke down earlier this afternoon, and we had to bring it into the shop for repair. We were forced to use the Lint and Schmutz Removal Unit on your job, and Delvin charges fifty dollars a room for Lint and Schmutz extraction. Sorry.”

“I wrote and handed him a check for one hundred dollars. “I’m too tired and aggravated to argue about it. Give this to Delvin, and tell him if he insists on charging me more, to bring me to small claims court. That’s the place where the city adjudicates private squabbles over lesser sums of money.”

“I know where it is, I’ve been there before with Delvin,” the foreman replied. “I, too, am too tired to argue the bill. I’ll just give your check to Delvin and let him decide how he wants to handle it. Have a nice evening, and I left a few extra business cards on the table in the kitchen for you to give to your friends.”

I showed the men out and went into the kitchen. I read one of the business cards, then dropped them all in the trash. I poured myself a beer and sat down before the television, and tuned in to the evening news, which was already in progress. The news anchor was in a discussion with the former vice president about the methods the CIA used to extract information from terror suspects. The vice president was referring to waterboarding, and starvation, and sleep deprivation, and electric shock, and nail pulling, and violent beatings, as ‘enhanced interrogation.’

“Oh, trust me,” I said aloud. “It’s torture.”

Fifty Thousand Whoppers With Stupid

I recently heard about the new study which found obese people have 8 percent less brain tissue than normal weight individuals. Their brains look 16 years older than the brains of lean individuals, researchers said.

The results, based on brain scans of 94 people in their 70s, represent "severe brain degeneration," said Paul Thompson, senior author of the study and a UCLA professor of neurology.

The results were posted in the online edition of human brain mapping. You can read it here, if you can understand it. I’m no neuroscientist, but ‘atrophy in the frontal lobes, anterior cingulate gyrus, hippocampus, and thalamus’ can’t be good things.

Then I was snooping around some photos of the 9/12 fifty thousand strong million moron march on Washington, and wondered if there was a connection….

McCullough Interviews Charest

So Kevin McCullough responded to my post and requested an interview. Okay, he didn't. He responded with a list of questions and asked me to answer them, and they read like an interview.

KMC: Better for a fool to keep his mouth still lest he open it and remove all doubts…That quote from my grandfather reminded me of your misleading email.

BOB: You get on the radio and do it before the whole world, and loudly. The quote itself is actually attributed to Mark Twain. And George Eliot. And Abraham Lincoln. And to Proverbs 17:28. Howso was I misleading? You were bombastic, you did play a tape you weren’t sure of, you did call two black men you’ve never met stupid. That was all of your screech on the chalkboard in my head that I could bear.

KMC: So tell me this…How do you defend (from a Biblical perspective) Obama’s desire to provide end of life counseling.

BOB: I don’t get the question. My mother died pretty young of cancer. I lived with her and was her caretaker for the last year. The day she was diagnosed terminal the doctor called me into the office with her, gave me the news, and began preparing us for the end. Some other very kind people formed a network around her and ushered her out gracefully. If that’s end of life counseling, every one should get it. I don’t understand the question. As it stands now the insurance companies dictate when an administrator calls the family into a room and informs them their coverage terminates, and soon thereafter so does their loved one. That’s callous and vile.

KMC: How do you defend Obama’s desire to force taxpayer funding of the killing of children in his health care plan?

BOB: Abortion is abomination. It’s also a complex right to privacy issue tangled in a morass of law that clings hopelessly to a constitution that was framed in the context of a different time and place. ‘Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.’ Romans 4:15. It’s only one of many issues to take under consideration in elections. Would you vote for Hitler instead of Obama if he promised abortion would cease the very moment he was sworn in? Was your ‘pro life’ guy George Bush antichrist preaching about the sanctity of life as he was bombing mommies and their babies on the other side of the world? You can’t be pro life and wage war, and especially war of aggression. Why do you want to legislate the sin of others? And why are you so obsessed with the unborn? Why do you even care? You and your politicians and their policies don’t want to take care of the babies once they're in the world.

KMC: How do you decry the statistics I used in the show -- when I can prove my source?

BOB: Well, you offer to offer proof, yet don’t offer it. Your statistic that 87 percent of Americans are satisfied with their health care is preposterous. First of all it’s a slanted question. You should be asking how many think there needs to be health care reform. If your source was a poll taken by the insurance or medical lobbies—which it surely sounds like--it invalidates itself.

KMC: How can you slander brothers in Christ while defending the actions or arguably the most anti-God administration in history?

BOB: I don’t know that you’re brothers in Christ, only God can see inside you. You say you are, but it is written: ‘This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.’ Matthew 15:8. You certainly don’t speak like disciples, and don’t even sound like followers. Play back and listen to your arrogant bombast some time.

Obama is not anti-God. What a silly statement. At last summer’s Saddleback forum with Rick Warren and John McCain, when asked about Christ, Obama said: “Well, as a starting point, it means I believe in — that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that I am redeemed through Him. That is a source of strength and sustenance on a daily basis. I know that I don’t walk alone. And I know that if I can get myself out of the way that, you know, I can maybe carry out in some small way what — what He intends. And it means that those sins that I have, on a fairly regular basis, hopefully will be washed away.”

McCain said: “It means I’m saved and forgiven. And we’re talking about the world. Our faith encompasses not just the United States of America, but the world. Can I tell you another story real quick?”

You have to grant Obama what you expect of everyone else, to be taken at your word that you’re a Christian. Only God will judge him.

KMC: Please respond. I'm genuinely interested in your thoughts.

BOB: There, I’ve answered all your questions. I have only one for you. Scroll down a bit to the photo in the Parshall Malkin article. As a Christian I find Michelle Malkin’s pose with the swastika to be extraordinarily disturbing and offensive. No Christian on earth would strike that pose for such a photo. Not one. Yet you have a prominent link and proudly stated association with her website, hotair.com. How do you explain that?

I directed KMC to my answers on this blog, and after looking at it he said.

KMC: Without my clearance or permission....

Sorry I didn't respond in accord to the guidelines that included stroking your massive ego for a casual article. Then he called me a racist. Then he explained the Malkin photo.

KMC: The sign is clearly not an endorsement of Hitler but rather a poke at the President who asked his citizens to report on any neighbors who disagree with him. Which happened to be a tactic taken from Hitler's Gestapo. Any slight student of history would know and understand this...
Only a moron can not see the difference...

I explained that the photo had been taken six months in advance of the recent news to which he tied it. I then pointed out the ads on his website: the girl selling the tee shirt emblazoned: I'D RATHER BE WATERBOARDING side by side with the ad for Malkin's new book. He offered no explanation. Then I asked him straight.

BOB: So, when you come to judgment and you say to Jesus: "Lord, you know I loved you always." What are you going to say when He says: "Then why did you hang out with the torturers and the nazis who beat me and mocked me and gave me vinegar to drink and hammered the nails in?" What will you say to Jesus in that moment?

He got very, very mad, stated explicitly that he could take legal action and said goodbye.

I wonder if the estate of Mark Twain could sue his grandfather?
