O Untimely Birth

Not every bud on the vine matures into fruit; some fall and rot in the earth, and nourish the roots. It can be said that in a manner they are born again.

Miscarriage, stillbirth and crib death account for millions of infant mortalities worldwide every year; it’s been a natural aspect of the human condition since man was cast out of the garden.

The inscrutable, omniscient God, who knows the number of hairs upon your head and all the thoughts in your heart, takes every last one of these babes up into His arms. Jesus described it thus: 'In heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.' Matthew 18:10.

He also addressed their existence in His book long, long ago.

Job 3: 11-16 ‘Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly? Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck? For now should I have lain still and had been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest… as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw the light. There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.’

It is a biblical truth essentially repeated in Ecclesiastes 4: 3-4, ‘Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.’ And Ecclesiastes 6: 3 ‘If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.’

Would a true child of God abort a fetus? Of course not. Why then do you fret when they you surely regard as the spellbound sons and daughters of the devil off their own young? And why do you seek to legislate the sin of others? We all know who the LORD says is qualified to cast those stones.

Speaking of stones, let us segue to Matthew 3:9, where John the Baptist denounces the Pharisees (the ancient equivalent of today’s self-righteous republican ‘Christians’), saying: ‘God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.’

Knowing that, do you think that even one soul God determines has been or ever will be lost? In John 6:39, Jesus says: ‘And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.’

Jesus also accuses the Pharisees on various occasions, including Matthew 23:23: ‘Woe unto ye, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.’

In this you pharisaical hypocrites make a show of your piety by taking up your indignation against abortion, but turn your backs upon the infants the moment they take their place among the living. You despise spending tax dollars on the social programs that would feed, house, educate and give them health care, and by opposing such seek to subject them to the very evils the Bible says they’re better off never knowing. Abortion is abomination, but so are ruthless bankers who devour houses, making people homeless to accumulate money they’ll never spend; and heartless health insurers who alchemize blood by visiting death upon the impoverished; and the soulless politicians who enable and protect them in the name of God. And even if the abortion ruling were ever overturned, the money saved would not be spent on the resulting babies—it would be divvied by and to the bankers and the insurers and the liars whom the very Bible says had been better off were they aborted in the first place.

Yet Another Catholic Contradiction

Biblical Evidence That True Christians Support Health Care Reform Part Eight (Shall I continue?)

There are two major themes to Drifting With Jesus (synopsis and first three chapters here). One is an exploration of the various manifestations of Christianity in America—to explain exactly who are the Mormons, the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Seventh Day Adventists, etc. The other arc is the many ways the Catholic church either opposes biblical doctrine or invents their own (very) loosely based on the Bible. In snooping around the internet for pertinent bits from the news related to a certain passage of scripture I wanted to expound upon, I came upon this gem from last November.

This is the first paragraph of a news story copied from The Colorado Independent, first posted on November 3, 2009. “This past weekend the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops instructed pastors at parishes across the country to distribute material urging Catholics to oppose the health reform bills making their way through Congress for allowing public funding of abortions. Priests were to insert the Bishops Conference leaflets and letters into parish news bulletins, distribute them at church doors or place them in pews. They were also directed to read a statement at mass to reinforce the message.”

And here follows the Bible passage that edict contradicts, as the edicts of the Catholic church so often do. From Ezekiel, chapter 34, verses 1-4. ‘And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed, but ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.’

The Bible speaks for itself, as does the Catholic church, and I add nothing more.

Sodomy, American Style

Biblical Evidence That True Christians Support Health Care Reform Part Seven

As wealthy America continues to sodomize the poor by failing to provide universal health care, in hypocritical contradiction to the 'Judeo-Christian democracy' we proclaim to be, wherein the will of the majority would be heard and heeded, I thought I’d turn to the Bible and explain the real sin of Sodom.

The common misperception is that it was a city of sexually deviant mule shaggers and rapists who went about having violent intercourse with the nearest ass (hence the eponymous term sodomy). While no doubt some of those behaviors went on there, the real immorality of that city was her inhospitable treatment of strangers and her own people.

The Bible says so.

‘Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.’ Ezekiel 16: 49-50.

When Jesus ministered, healing ALL the sick that came to him, feeding the hungry and bringing light into the world, he specifically mentioned the destruction Sodom. ‘And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, in the day of judgment, than for thee.’ Matthew 11:23-24.

The denizens of Sodom had innate human decency to guide them, and ignored it to follow after their own dark hearts. Capernaum bore witness to the wondrous miracles of Christ, and refused to see and repent of their evil ways. ‘Christian’ America has the benefit of the resurrection that followed Christ’s visit to Capernaum, two thousand years of his profound influence on history, and witnessing firsthand the fulfillment of all of Christ’s prophecies concerning the latter days, and STILL refuses to do what pleases God. How much more do you think you incite His wrath when you enable unholy devils to devour countless billions of dollars while your poor brothers and sisters live in misery and die for lack of the basic necessities of food, shelter and health care?

If Sodom was destroyed by a rain of brimstone and fire from heaven, and Capernaum was cast into hell, what fate awaits you American ‘Christians’ who oppose the will of God in the name of Christ? The rain that fell on Sodom will seem like a cool spring shower when God blesses America as she deserves.
