The Christian Car Thief

For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. -- Job 15:34.

Over the weekend Congressman Darrell Issa--the incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, with the power of subpoena--appeared on the Sunday morning political shows and primed us for the coming two years of investigations into the Obama administration that he plans to oversee. On the Rush Limbaugh show last fall he called Obama “one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times.” This past Sunday he rephrased the statement to “the Obama administration.” Since this showboating buffoon seems determined to bask in the limelight for the duration of the 112th Congress, let us turn the spotlight onto his past.

It is common knowledge that Darrell Issa is the wealthiest member of Congress, with an estimated worth of roughly 250 million dollars. He amassed the bulk of his fortune through the sale of the Viper car alarm. How did he come to know so much about car alarms? The years he spent as a car thief were his apprenticeship, of course.

Here are some of the highlights of his criminal past, as widely reported online. Here follows a nutshell; you can read in greater detail here: Issa's Arrests.

“In 1971, a retired Army seargent claimed that Issa stole a Dodge sedan from an Army post near Pittsburg. The seargent said he recovered the car after confronting and threatening Issa. Issa denied the allegations and no charges were filed.

In 1972, Issa and his brother allegedly stole a red Maserati sports car from a dealership in Cleveland. They were indicted for auto theft, but the case was dropped.

That same year, Issa was convicted in Michigan for possession of an unregistered gun. He received three months probation and paid a $204 fine.

On December 28, 1979, Issa and his brother allegedly faked the theft of Issa’s Mercedes Benz sedan and sold it to a car dealer for $16,000, according to court records. He and his brother were charged with felony auto theft in San Jose in 1980. But in August 1980, a prosecutor dismissed the case for lack of evidence. The men were later charged with misdemeanors, but that case was not pursued, said retired police detective Richard Christiansen, lead investigator in the case.

Issa later accused his brother of stealing the car, and said that the experience with his brother was the reason he went into the car alarm business.

A day after a court order was issued, giving Issa control of automotive company A.C. Custom over an unpaid $60,000 debt, Issa allegedly carried a cardboard box containing a handgun into the office of A.C. Custom executive Jack Frantz, and told Frantz he was fired.

In response, Issa said, “Shots were never fired. …I don’t recall having a gun. I really don’t. I don’t think I ever pulled a gun on anyone in my life.’”

He doesn’t recall ever pulling a gun on anyone in his life? I never have, but I’m sure I would remember it vividly if I had. Unless he's done it so many times that one particular incident got lost in the blur.

So this is the man calling the Obama administration corrupt. What a despicable hypocrite. That, friends and neighbors, is the proverbial pot calling the kettle black. That, friends and neighbors, is one of the ‘righteous’ Republicans that WTBN ‘Christian’ radio rejoiced in getting elected this past November (although where WTBN sees righteous men and women, I often see devils). That, friends and neighbors, is the real Darrell Issa—Liar, Thief, Congressman.

You’ll be seeing much more of him in ’11 and ’12 as the Republicans seek to divert attention from the real issues by conducting frivolous investigations while they enact their Christian agenda of cutting social programs, outsourcing more jobs, wrecking social security, attempting to repeal health care for ALL GOD’S CHILDREN, and destroying public education while giving more money to Darrell Issa’s wealthy friends. He asked the oil corporations which regulations they would like him to weaken or remove altogether. That is pure evil.

I began with Job, so I’ll end with Job. On Darrell Issa’s Wikipedia page it states that he belongs to the Antiochian Orthodox Church. If Issa was truly a Christian he would model himself after the spotless Job: I put on my righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem. I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. I was a father to the poor…. Job 29:14-16.

But for Issa to call himself a Christian then pursue what he has planned means he’s a liar, not a true Christian, and more likely to fulfill Job 27:8. For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
