Many who call themselves Christians simply are not. Christ foretold that many false prophets would lead many astray, and as Christ was right in everything, so are they all around us today. They're usually the ones atop the mountain beating their chests and proudly proclaiming their faith to all the world. Anyone can put any words on their lips, but God hears nothing when reading your heart. ‘Christians’ who judge homosexuals are not truly Christian, but liars who have not read the word they vainly wield. For if they understood the Scriptures they would keep their mouths shut instead of opening them to pronounce judgment against themselves.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. James 2: 10-11
One of the scriptures often cited by those who attack homosexuals is Leviticus 18, verse 22. But that section is a small part of a long exposition of things the Lord considers sinful and abomination. A few verses later the passage continues in Leviticus 19. Here are some of the points of law hateful hypocrites ignore when they roll out their tongues only to trip themselves.
You are to fear your father and mother, and keep the Sabbath. You are forbidden to worship idols and molten gods. Money can be an idol, inasmuch as covetousness is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5) You shall not steal, deal falsely, nor lie. You shall not swear by the Lord’s name, nor profane it. You shall not defraud your neighbor, nor rob him, and you shall judge your neighbor with righteousness. You shall not curse the deaf nor trip the blind. You shall not gossip. You shall not hate your brother in your heart—your brother being everyone, including the homosexual that started this whole thing. You shall not avenge, you shall not bear grudges. Sex with an engaged woman will get her scourged. You shall not eat anything with blood, use enchantment or observe times. You shall not cut the hair over your temples, nor trim your beard. You shall not cut your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo it. You shall not consult mediums, nor seek after wizards, and you shall honor the elderly.
Do you welcome people of other nations within our borders? If you have a problem with immigrants, that’s going to be a big problem for you.
And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself. Leviticus19:33-34
That is just a partial list; the law defines many sinful acts as varied as eating pork or shellfish, mingling linen and wool, or drinking in church. Sin in any of these, and you are the same transgressor of the law that you judge your homosexual brother to be. You will know a true Christian by his fear of the Lord’s voice.
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. Matthew 7:1-5
